Economic's Lesson

I am sure many of you who know me know that I am oppose to this stimulus bill. Throwing money we don't have at a debt will not help the situation.

The recent economic stimulus bill grants the government about 800 billion dollars. That looks like this : $800,000,000,000.00

There are about 305,802,883 people in the US.
That amounts to $2,616.06 per man woman and child in the US.

There are about 6,760,084,065 in the world.
That amounts to $118.34 per man woman and child in the world.

I will be waiting for my stimulus check.

Here is a freebie in celebration...

Liberty is Colorblind

1. If coal and oil and gas and all the other big bad industries go out of business who will pay the taxes we need to fund the all the social welfare programs, bailouts, and stimulus payments Obama wants?

2. If minorities are being kept down through discriminatory practices then explain to me how a black man, raised by a single mother, was able to go to an ivy league school and rise to the highest position of authority in this country?

3. How is it that creating more benefits for unemployment and disability going to encourage people to become productive members of society and contribute to the work force?

4. When did the basic principals of liberty and capitalism die?

I voted

I voted. It didn't count. I am wearing black today in protest and in mourning of the death of liberty.

Yesterday, as I stood in line at the polling location, I overheard an African American Woman in line. She said, "This is the first time in my life I have voted. I just want some change." She voted Obama. I woke up this morning and a friend of mine who has always voted libretarian said he voted for Obama. Look, this is just rediculous. How can someone with libretarian views vote for anything the remotely smells like socialism? It makes no sense.

I am not mad that McCain lost. It was a tough election. I am mad because the people who elected Obama listed to mass media, did little research on the candidate, and in most cases can't even state coherent reasons why they voted for Obama. In the instances when someone could state reasons, they were unwilling to entertain alternative views of Obama's plans. I only found one Obama supporter who was willing to entertain alternative views of Obama's plans. His arguments were based on his values, not the media. I respect that voter.

I am proud of this country for making it through another election.
The people wanted change.
Change is here.
I am just not sure it's the change everyone expects.

Bankrupt an Industry?

I give up. This weekend Obama said he would happily let the Coal industry bankrupt itself trying to conform with the "clean coal policies" he proposes. He wants to bankrupt an industry with law. I have NEVER heard a presidential candidate speak about bankrupting an industry. He wants to change the way we deal with 401Ks. He wants to "protect jobs here" by putting restrictions on trade. The problem is that the people we deal with are not stupid. If we restrict what comes in they will restrict what goes out. We are in for a hurtin' folks.

This is a mad man. We are dealing with a socialistic, environmental psychopath and we are ONE day away from possibly changing the nation forever.

Anyone who knows anything about economics knows that under Obama rule we lose big time. We lose jobs, wealth, respect on the international front, dollar value...we lose. You think the value of your home is bad now...spread the wealth around baby and see what happens. You think you have trouble paying bills now? Bankrupt coal and see what happens to energy prices.

This is all part of his plan. It works like this...bankrupt coal, which provides a huge majority of the energy in this country, and energy proces go up. We complain about paying high energy costs and he swoops in like a savior with plans for an alternative energy that we do not have yet.

Maddness. I can't believe my country is even allowing this guy to run for president.

Let's Talk About Sex Baby

So, let's talk about abortion...
Let me start out by stating that I would never choose to have an abortion. However, I would never want to take away your right to make that choice. The key question surrounding the abortion issue is when life begins. I am of the opinion that life begins when the child you are having can survive outside the mother's womb on it's own or with medical assistance. When that occurs is ever changing. There is no black and white. The earliest born surviving child is Amillia Sonja Taylor and she was born in October after less than 22 weeks in the womb. I am of the opinion that this "life line" should be moved as new children are born and as medicine advances. Right now, before 22 weeks of pregnancy a child can not survive without the protection of the Mother's womb.

Now, let's take a look at politics. Many abortion rights activists condemn Palin for being anti-abortion. They say the republicans will take away abortion and overturn Roe v. Wade. They claim that rape victims and incest victims will be forced to raise the children concieved as a result of the attack making them forever a victim and that a woman who's life is in danger will be left to die instead of aborting the child. I think this all crazy and rediculous. In 1996 there were 1.37 million abortions performed. 64.4% of all abortions are performed on never-married women; Married women account for 18.4% of all abortions and divorced women obtain 9.4%. When asked about the reasons for the abortions, 1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient). 7%...Only 7% fall into the category that the democrats use to fuel their entire argument. 7%.

The republicans argue that babies are being killed avaery day. That late term abortions are rampant. (Obama always votes yes for abortion, no matter how late in the pregnancy. He also voted against providing life support to children who "survived" abortions.) Most women are getting abortions early in the pregnancy. 52% of all abortions occur before the 9th week of pregnancy, 25% happen between the 9th & 10th week, 12% happen between the 11th and 12th week, 6% happen between the 13th & 15th week, 4% happen between the 16th & 20th week, and 1% of all abortions (16,450/yr.) happen after the 20th week of pregnancy.
Only 11% of abortions happen after the second trimester. Just under half, 48%, of all abortion facilities provide services after the 12th week of pregnancy. 9 in 10 managed care plans routinely cover abortion or provide limited coverage. About 14% of all abortions in the United States are paid for with public funds, virtually all of which are state funds.Keep in mind that 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had at least one previous abortion.

What bothers me most about these statistics is that a majority of abotions occur for social reasons. If we eliminate the ability to have a social abortion we can appease the republicans. At the same time we are still allowing a woman to abort a child for rape, incest, and medical reasons. You see, many abortions could be prevented with a little self respect and personal responsability. How about this for abortion...close your legs and take some birth control. I forgot, this country doesn't encourage personal responsability.

Tax Cut...on the dotted line

Today I heard some interesting news regarding Obama's tax plan. Have you been confused by all the tax talk? Who will get taxed? Who will see a tax cut? What taxes are we talking about?Apparantly, even the democratic party has no idea what income bracket is the cut off. We are all familliar with the "if you make less than $250,000 a year you will not see a tax increase" rhetoric. Well, this weekend in a speach Obama said it is $200,000. To make matters more confusing, Biden, in a speach yesterday, said that tax cuts should go to the middle class, people making less than $150,000 per year. They can't even get on the same page...how will they get the country on the same page?

Not to mention, all these tax cuts and extra spending...paid for by whom? I vote to keep what you earn, no matter if it's $25,000 a year or $2.5 million.

On the family front, I didn't want to confess this Mommy slip up so I have waited to blog about it. I did the dummest Mommy thing ever on Monday. I literally dumped my 1 year old son out of his stroller onto the floor. We were at the mall and we just left the plaground. He was tired so I just plopped him in his seat and took off through the mall. We were walking around a store and I forgot he wasn't strapped in and I lifted the back tires up to maneuver around some merchandise and "thump"...he was on the floor screaming. The aftermath? Me...a red face. Him...a little bump and a yellow bruise. Luckilly he didn't hit anything sharp and there was carpet to cushion the blow. This stuff only happens to me...I swear.
Update: He is fine.

Save this little boy's future...Vote Republican!

Save this little boy's future...Vote Republican!

I have this sign in my front yard because I support McCain and Palin. It's not because I am a gun loving do it yourself republican. It's because Obama's policies go against every economic bone in my body. I own no stock. Our family makes just over $50K a year. I am in debt to my eyeballs. I am the average american. I believe the following.

I am obviously failing to notice or understand how spending more money for programs will get us out of debt. It just doesn't add up. Not to mention, socialized medicine is a step in the wrong direction. Look, I am not so stupid and helpless that I need the government to choose my healthcare for me. I believe many other people of the same mindset.

If you think taxes will be lo wer for us under Obama then check out what he wants to do to your 401K...just go look, please. Not to mention, you think taxing only the upper incomes will not affect you? The people with $250K incomes are the people who own the businesses that make the world go around. Those people will not eat that tax. They will pass it on to you in the form of higher prices for merchandise or shipping or whatever...Ask an economist. Cut taxes accross the board and you have growth. Forced distribution of wealth leads to a bad place. The market is already bracing for an Obama win...it feels bleak.

I am also failing to notice how people can believe that socialism is a great place for a democratioc society to head towrds. People, wake up and look around. Where you have socialism you have unhappy citizens and A LOT of poverty. I do not need the governemnt, the same governemnt that screwed up the economy in the first place, to be any larger and bossier than it already is.

I am also failing to notice how American can ignore Obama's associations and background. It's is the people we meet and the things we do and believe that make us the person we are today. Whether you know someone for a day or ten years, they have impacted you. Obama has been permitted to walk on egg shells regarding past associations. I am skeptical to say the least.

I know how to spend my money. I know how to take care of my family.
I do not need help from Obama.

Support free market. Support your right to choose. Support McCain.

Obama's redistribution of wealth plan...chew on this

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference -- just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
It seems to be okay and acceptable until you are the one whose money is redistributed.

I Do Not Choose to Be a Common Man

It is my right to be uncommon—if I can.

I seek opportunity—not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.

I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.

I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.

I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.

It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say, "This I have done."
