Obama's redistribution of wealth plan...chew on this

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference -- just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
It seems to be okay and acceptable until you are the one whose money is redistributed.

WOW....I love what you did..We will all have to try that. Here in OHIO we frequent several restaurants and I have never seen that. Now I do hear people talk about voting for OBama...I know several republicans who are voting for him to get even with conservative republicans for the screw ups they have done the last several years. I no longer discuss issues with these people. I love em...but don't talk to them about this. Thanks for this...Judy

funny how I have seen that same post on numerous blogs...?!! Other people doing the exact same thing? Not likley! Your brainwashed by the republican party, and it really doesn't make sense seeing that you said you and your husband together only make 50k, your taxes WILL be lower when Obama wins. And can't you stand to help other people, or are you just so selfish you only care about your and your own? McCain really doesn't care about you, realize that and you WILL be better off.

I agree that my taxes will be lower with Obama, but that is not the only thing that is important to me.
The fact is, I don't pay taxes, so it doesn't affect me in a direct tax way.

What most democrats fail to notice is that big business doesn't pay taxes.

Let me say that again, BIG BUSINESS DOESN'T PAY TAXES. What? Yes, we pay that tax. We pay it in the form of higher prices, lower employee pay and a cut back in expansion.

The only way to spur growth, as an economist, is to cut taxes to everyone and freeze or reduce spending. Doing so would increase the money in the hands of businessmen resulting in that person opening a new business and hiring new people. Those people now have pay and they in turn become a consumer. Their consumerism creates more revenue in the business...and the cycle continues.

Raising taxes, on the other hand, will have the opposite effect. Business owners will refrain from expanding for fear of tax consequences.

Please do not tell me that republicans are selfish. The Democrats are the selfish ones...expecting a handout, help for the government without even thinking about what that means for the rest of the country...without even considering who will pay for that handout.

If you want some real statistics, republicans donate to charity, on average, 10% more than democrats. Joe Biden is a prime example. Millions made, 3K donated. What happened to the rest of the money he made?

The democratic party is great at spending money...just not their own money.

I care about people. I care about others. I also expect them to work hard. This country was founded on hard work and a make it on your own attitude. We can't lose that vision.

Democrats want to make the welfare system a hammock instead of a safety net.

I wonder what it is inside of you that makes you feel that it's okay for the government to pay my bills and take care of my children? The federal government was designed to provide security for this country and provide for the good of the public...not to hand out checks to people who could otherwise work but qualify.

My inclination about your comment is that this blog post makes you uncomfortable because it makes you confront the truth of a situation as it would apply to you. Are you the waiter?
